The RAIDER is built using a double wall extrusion creating one of the most rigid free-float platforms in its weight class. Its unique architecture that balances weight, rigidity, and capability translates to a more consistent zero retention with handguard mounted electro-optics and lasers. The entire BCM Combat Rail System fleet uses a patented (US Patent 8904691) lock up system where self-locking cross bolts apply force at the 12:00 position of the handguard equally distributing force around the surface area of the rail. This ensures continuous top center alignment of the rail and mitigates forwards/backwards movement of the handguard when the weapon system is fired. Whether forced to take action as an individual to protect innocent life or conducting distributed operations as part of a larger force for a strategic goal, the RAIDER is built to enable success. With 60 years of continuous service, the AR15 has seen a number of enhancements to improve the survivability of the end user. Most critically, the introduction of the MIL-STD-1913 rail, AKA the Picatinny rail. The rail has standardized the employment of red dots, variable power scopes, thermal electro-optics, white lights, and lasers to allow for positive identification, de-escalation, and ultimately more accurate engagement in a no-fail encounter. This capability did not come without a cost. Added together, these life saving enhancements added significant weight to the individual platform. Modular rails were offered by BCM with the Jack Carbine in 2012 and then with the Company’s ultra-light KMR (KeyMod Rail System) in 2014. However, for end users in uncertain and complex environments where stacking these enhancements are required, additional considerations must be weighted. MIL-STD-1913 remains the most durable interface for mission essential equipment. Accordingly, the BCM RAIDER offers Pic rails where these enhancements are most likely to be positioned with six channels of Pic rail interfaces at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, as well as an uninterrupted 1913 rail along the top of the handguard. Finally, a series of ports have been positioned to enable pass throughs for securing vital equipment for securing vital equipment with zip ties or MIL-SPEC cording.
